Don't ever try "Francesinha"!!!

Publicerad 2015-04-30 23:16:39 i Allmänt,

Howdy friends;)
The final day in Porto has come and tomorrow we will start the real adventure. Tomorrow morning we will make our way to the cathedral of Porto and start to walk along the trail of St. James.
However, let's talk about our day. We started off with taking the bus to the city center. From there we took the metro to the stadium of Fc Porto:) We had a guided tour in the stadium and got to see all the cool spots in there. We were in the garderobes, in the VIP lounge of the president and of course we walked through the entry which the teams also uses:)
After that, we went back to the city and looked for lunch. We decided to be a little bit cultural and tried the Portuguese speciality "Francesinha".... It's like a sandwich with lots of meat and cheese, topped with an egg and sauce. However, we both came to the conclusion that we won't try it again! :D
After our lunch- experiment we made our way over the bridge "Ponte Luiz I" to a wine cellar. We chose the first one, which is the brand Burmester, which has been producing port wine since about 1750.
We had a guided tour and later we could even try the different port wines.
As we had tried the vine we continued on that side of the river( all the wine cellars are on one side, because of the sun) and had an ice cream. On that riverside there is a cable car that leads up to the city top. From the we went back to the other riverside on the highest deck of the bridge " Ponte Luiz I".
Finally we caught the same bus like yesterday and walked back home through the city park.
Right now we are making a plan for tomorrow:) See you guys!
Boa noite!

Bom dia!
Today our adventure here in Portugal continued. This morning we left the beautiful and astonishing city of Lisbon and flew to Porto. All the people down in Lisbon said that Porto is very beautiful, but very different from Lisbon- we learned that they all were right:)
Porto is a beautiful city in the north of Portugal, it is very cultural and the city loves art. However, the city of Porto is rather small in comparison to Lisbon and rather rural.
When we arrived in Porto, our "host" picked us up from the metro station and brought us to her beautiful apartment. The flat is soo nice and very beautiful, on the balcony you have a view over the rooftops and can see the sea. Our host also helped us a lot with the orientation in the city:) she gave us maps and descriptions how to get everywhere;) thank you so much!
Even though we came here in the afternoon we wanted to see a little bit of the city already today:) so we walked down a park, which is near by the apartment and also very popular among the people. Indeed this park is very beautiful and it is amazing how a big city like Porto can have such a big green spot! At the end of the park we arrived the beach with the view on the ocean. It was very beautiful and impressing to see the seaside so we just sat at a bench for a while. We also visited another Castelo, which is next to the ocean. It's called the castel of cheese, no idea why:'D
After that, we took a bus to the old town, "Riberia". It was a beautiful ride with the bus, because it goes along the seaside...
In the old city of Porto we had something to eat in a very cozy restaurant, from which we had a perfect view on the river Douro and the bridge leading to the other city side where the port wine is produced.
After dinner, we walked around a little bit in "Riberia" and had an ice cream.
By the way, we also found a sticker on one dustbin from the KSV Hessen Kassel:D
After a long day, we finally made our way back home and now it's time to get some rest:)
See you all, boa noite!<3

Lisbon- the second 🎬

Publicerad 2015-04-29 00:14:44 i Allmänt,

Hello guys!
The second day in Lisbon and we start to fall in love with this city and its people. Today we started out with a morning walk to Belém, which ist some km away from the city center. There are many things to see in the part of Belém, but the walk at the riverside is already quite impressive and beautiful. Sometimes you can even see Dolphins in the river. However, on the way to Belém we walked past the "April 25.th" bridge( got its name from the revolution in 1974, when the Portuguese people freed themselves from the fascist regime). The bridge looks quite the same to the "Golden Gate Bridge" in San Francisco. Furthermore, on the other side of the river, there is a statue of Jesus which is a copy from the one standing in Rio de Janeiro.
In Belém we first watched a big monument, which was constructed to honor the sailors and the explorers.
In addition, we saw the tower of Belém, which is quite known as the symbol of Lisbon.
As we had to walk back to the city center, we drove back one part with the tram. These trams are also quite known here in Lisbon. Back in time they were pulled by horses, but now they work with electricity.
When we arrived in the city center we walked up to a park. From there we could watch down to the town of Lisbon, see the Castelo on the top of the hill and of course we had a beautiful view on the river:)
Our last activity was that we made our way to the Benfica stadium. Since you know us quite well, it was a must for us to see the stadium.
Right now we are lying in our beds, all tired but still very excited for tomorrow. Thank you Lisbon for having us! You are a beautiful city and we will miss you and your people!
